German Sweets warmly welcome you to the International Sweets and Biscuits Fair (ISM)
The German confectionery industry is a big exporter and has successfully defended its title as the world’s champion exporter for a number of years. Meanwhile around 40% of its produced goods leave Germany. If one takes a closer look at the export markets, one can see that around 85% of German confectionery exports goes to the European Union. And yet the sector’s companies are increasingly successful in selling their products worldwide. Hence the share of non-EU exports has seen a constant rise for some years now.Small and medium-sized German confectionery companies were quick to spot the export opportunities and strengthened this side of their business in 1977 by establishing their own export-promotion organisation, German Sweets e.V. (German Association for the Promotion of Chocolate, Confectionery, Biscuit, Snack and Ice-cream Exports). There are other factors lending to this export success story, for example the fact that Germany is the second most important confectionery market in the world, that the conditions and structures of the German market require companies to be highly competitive, and that the world’s leading fair in the sector, the International Sweets and Biscuits Fair (ISM), is staged in Cologne every year. What is more, some of Germany’s regional specialities are world famous, such as Printen (sweet, spiced cake) from Aachen, Christmas Stollen (traditional German Christmas cake) from Dresden, marzipan made in Lübeck, and Lebkuchen (traditional ginger bread) from Nuremberg.
We invite you to get to know the diversity and innovation range of products from German manufacturers at first hand by visiting next year's ISM from 29th january until 2nd february 2012 in Cologne.Come and see us at our booth in Hall 10.2 D 050/053.Welcome to Cologne
