Review of the previous event 2009
The Sweets Middle East trade fair ended on 4 November 2009 and, according to the Cologne Exhibition Centre (Koelnmesse), although the economic crisis left its mark on the number of participating exhibitors, it was possible to fill the hall quite well by including the technology sector. Germany mustered eleven participating companies, five of them being German Sweets members, namely Confiserie Burg Lauenstein, Eichetti, Halloren, Fr. Kaiser, and Rotstern. In talks with exhibitors, all said they were more than happy with the results of the SME. The trade fair was the right size to create a positive business climate, was the opinion, and prospective customers repeatedly passed by the fair booths to engage in talks. From the point of view of German Sweets, the combination of confectionery manufacturing and confectionery technology is a good concept for this trade fair. This year’s Sweets Middle East is positive proof of how confectionery manufacturers and confectionery technology companies can collaborate on a project. The overarching concept of GEFA (German Export Association for Food and Agri Products) is clearly the right way to address issues concerning future sales promotion.
Figures and Facts from 2009:
4,786 trade visitors. The vaste majority came from the MENA region.
