German Exports of Confectionery Products in Tons from 1977 to 2011
The increasing significance of exports for the German sweets industry becomes particularly transparent on taking stock of the increases seen over the last 34 years. In 1977, exports came to a total of 156,693 tons at a value of 430 million Euros. By 2011 exports had reached a level of 1,740,644 tons at a value of more than 5.7 billion Euros, marking more than a tenfold increase. The German confectionery industry thus continues to be the world’s biggest exporter of confectionery.
