Midsummer festival in Sweden - the country of sugar confectionery

This weekend, as every year, Midsummer is celebrated at the end of June. This year, the special festival falls on Friday the 24th of June. Especially in Scandinavia and the Baltic States, the summer solstice celebrations, that is, the longest night of the year, are celebrated.

Relatives, friends and neighbors often gather to celebrate together. The country that is inevitably associated with Midsummer is Sweden. In addition to celebrations that last well into the night, picnics are extremely popular in Sweden during this time. Sweet cakes, hearty polarbread and elderflower juice may not be missing then.

However, even outside the culinary celebrations of the summer solstice, the Swedes have a pronounced sense of pleasure. Swedes have the highest per capita consumption of fruit gums and sugar confectionery in the EU. On average, they consume around 10 kg a year. Particularly popular are the Pick+Mix offers, which enable both big and small indulgence cats to put together their own confectionery.
